Groop,
A client asked me to repair this Windsor rocker that she bought
at an antique store. She bought it because she liked the chair
and she was told that Indiana University was interested in adding
to their furniture collection. It is an unusual looking chair and she
wonders if it could be an original form or a faker's attempt to
turn a Windsor side chair into a comb back rocker. It appears
to have a pine or poplar seat, maple or beech turnings, some
sort of soft wood for the arms, and walnut for the crest rails.
I attach pictures of the rocker including a close up of a broken
arm that was repaired. If the repair is not sound, should I try to
repair the break again or should I patch on new material?
