A dentist's office has hired me to repair a six foot scratch on their
imported hardwood floor. Brazilian Cherry I think they call it.
Seems that someone was dragging a table across the floor and one
of the feet was missing a glide and that's what caused the scratch.
The scratch is actually a 1/4" wide scrape that is through the finish.
I did a test plank and found that if I sanded the damage and used
a mix of Satin and Gloss Finish Up I could get a reasonable color
match. However, this is a prefinished floor with a thick closed
pore finish. What can I use to fill the pores and make the repair
absolutely smooth? I have all day to do the repair so I could dope
in shellac, Finish Up or two minute lacquer. If it was a table top I
would use a clear lacquer burn in stick but I don't believe that
burn ins are durable enough for floors. Any suggestions?
