Groop,

Just wanted to update you on the resolution of our search for a
lacquer pump.  Originally I ask for recommendations for a pump
to transfer lacquer from a drum to a 5 gallon pail.  With a brilliant
suggestion from John Polgar, we saw that the real answer was a
drum carrier.  We purchased a pair on ebay.

The drum carriers allow us to move drum around the shop,  manually
stir the lacquer and safely pour the lacquer.  Since there are few
moving parts, there is little maintenance for a mechanical pump.

From the first photo, you can see the drum in the upright position.
The drums come with a paddle.  We use a rachet to agitate the
lacquer before each pour off.  Cap off the paddle hole and the
drum is ready to pour.

The second photo shows the drum tilted to pour into a 5-gallon pail.
The lacquer is then catalyzed, allowing for pail sized batches.  The
small batches take shelf life out of the equation.  Now I don't have
guys wrestling with the drums to transfer from drum to bucket.

Thank You John!  Again, you did not answer my question, but you
sure pointed me in the right direction for an efficient solution.

And thank you Groop.  The ability to bounce questions and ideas off
professional craftsmen who know quickly understand the problem
and provide unbiased solutions is just great.
