A not-so-valued customer has just brought in a teak garden bench
for gluing and painting green. He was hoping I would glue it for $35.

Every joint is loose and there is spliting and weather checking on
the leg posts near the top. Some of the joints are screws covered
with plugs, but most on the front and back frames are doweled joints.
The brass tag onthe front corner says "Coventry".
I saw one in a catalog for about $1500-1800.

I think I have convinced him that painting that bench and then leaving
it in the garden will be a tremendous liability, requiring regular work.
I also told him several times that there was much more to gluing this
bench that injecting some glue into the joints. This bench must be
taken down to the individual parts and all dowels removed and replaced.

The question is --
Has anyone glued one of these and how many hours did it take?
This customer must always have a firm price,
usually somewhere below my cost. :- (
