Safety first was not in the mix today
as my son and I started work today.

Nathan was cutting a dowel with the crosscut saw and
failed to obey one of the very basic rules of safety.
He left a changable blade knife on the front of the saw table.
AS he made the cut, the blade lowered into the dowel
but also into the knife.
The noise was alarming, to say the least,
and the first thing I asked was:
"Do you still have all your fingers?"

No fingers cut, no blood, no harm.
Just five teeth missing from an already dull blade
and a blade knife blown all over the shop.

It was a really cheap lesson that I hope he learned.
It was a few hours before the color returned to his face
and he looks at the power tools with a new awe.
