Charlie Lewis had a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting
ceremony February
27th, 2004. He graduated from Dakota County Technical College's Wood
Finish Technologies program May 2003 and returned home to Burkburnette,
TX where he purchased a building to continue his furniture restoration
business. He spent four months renovating and setting up his 4000 square
foot facility with separate areas for his state of the art spray booth,
stripping
and power wash area, woodworking shop, assembly area, storage, and
office.
Work flow was well thought out and designed. Incoming furniture arrives
at his dock or inside storage garage with and overhead hoist. The
assembly/disassembly area has a large butcher-block maple bench that once
served in the bakery that produced his parents' wedding cake. His
stripping area also has a hoist with overhead trolley between his
flow-over stripping tank and power wash area with water recycling tanks.
His new spray booth is walk-in with closing doors and fresh air
respirator. It's exhaust fan is variable speed. His woodworking shop
has a full line of equipment with dust control and doors separating it
from the finish area. The office has many finished samples on display
and a full library of finishing and woodworking books. Finally, for
those who know Charlie and Mitch Kohanek, a vast collection of music is
computer controlled with speakers through the facility. After visiting
all the finishing shops inside Atlanta's outerbelt, I found not to
compare. The local residents are blessed to have Charlie and Lewis
Furniture Restoration in their community. I was incredibily impressed
and pleased to be on hand for his ceremony.
