Groop,
I would just like to share with you an armoire base I just completed.
The base is part of a French Armoire that someone cut 3-3/4 inches
off the legs to make it fit in an 8' ceiling.
I used 5 1/2" walnut stock to rough cut the legs on the bandsaw and
then finished carving the legs after they were attached to the base.
On one leg there was an extra 1" of carving broken off above the cut.
I used a ball mill on an air grinder to rough carve the blanks and then
finished off using carving tools.
The photos show the before, during and after of the work. It took
me 8 hours to make the legs and stain to match. I polished the base
with Howards Feed & Wax to get an accurate color for matching.
The bill was $600.00 and the client was very happy.
