Always trying to increase our business (both in size and in income),
we decided to open an antique showroom in the front entrance of
our restoration shop. Wow! We did not know what we were in for.
A year and a half of trying to fill it up --
our restoration customers buying as fast as we could fill it up.
We know we made a great decision.
We feel who knows furniture better than an antique restorer.
Any long-time restorer knows quality of construction probably better
than most of their local "antique dealers" who buy-n-flip for profit
not always knowing the quality of the pieces they have.
We spend our weekends looking for treasures. I think the key to
success is picking the great woods that will finish up spectacular.
Tiger oak, burl walnuts curly maples.
We can also say that having the showroom also helps
sell your workmanship to new clients.
Always having finished pieces on hand is a big plus, $-wise
