The customer had a leak in the roof above this piece,
and it sat on soggy carpet for five years.

I cut out the bad sections of the plinth,
and replaced them with new wood.

I was able to save and repair the carved moulding on the piece,
and quick setted the bit back onto the side. Fortunately, it was
a pine veneer, so I replaced the lumber core/ pine veneer with a
solid piece of 2" x 4", ripped down to the right size.
Minwax wood hardener and Bondo filled the areas that do not show.

I have to cut and finish a new back for it,
and do the rest of the colouring.
The really tricky part is over.
