These are before and after pictures of one of a pair
of teak garden benches I did about four months ago.
I have a feeling that I took the before of one bench
and the after of the other.
I wasn't really paying attention.
The before shows the usual graying of the wood
although I was surprised to learn that this happened
after only about nine months of exposure.
It's difficult to see but there was some staining
from the screws holding the thing together.
I did the washing somewhere in the background toward the right
and you won't see a large area of dead grass.
What I wish to bring out in the after picture
is that the color is brown rather than orange.
Many of these outdoor oil finishes impart
more of an orange color.
The differences in intensity of the color
are due to the differences in the grain.
Penofin seems to highlight this
but not more than any other outdoor oil finish.
So far, these benches, while a little dirtier, have not faded
after four months in direct sun. As you can see, there is
absolutely no shade anywhere near the benches.
Any of these oil finishes are easy to apply and since the
difference is so large between the before and after, I have
ound that the Customer is willing to pay quite a bit for the work.
