As some of you might know, I am a flow over upstart and wannabe stripper.
I decided last Thursday to take Steve up on his offer for
some tricks of the trade and paid him a visit.
Wife Barb likes to frequent auctions and sales.
She always manages to pick the piece to buy that is the
toughest and most challenging redo. I crammed her latest purchase
into the back seat of my car and headed on a 3 hour trip to
Austin's Furniture Stripping and Refinishing in Portsville, NY.
Here are some pics of my experience with a pro.
Sure enough, Barb out-did herself and picked a table that was a tough strip.
Three coats of oilbase lead paint. It was like scraping clay.
The sounds that came from Steve's strip room
would have made a drunken sailor proud.
I learned a lot. Thank you Steve.
