As folks were arriving, Jane Richwine was kind enough to have some
great munchies ready for us along with coffee and juice. I think most
of us came pre-fed, because there were sure a lot of left-overs!
After getting settled we all introduced ourselves and got down to business.
Michael Richwine talked for about fifty minutes on faux finishing.
We got to see MANY examples of samples boards he has done for
one project or another, including some great big boards of the floor
job that he is doing now. Lots of great techniques were suggested
and I wish we'd have had more time to really absorb all of it.
We got to see and feel various sorts of tools and brushes
and talk about all the different kinds of compatibilities and
incompatabilities that we might run into.
After a short break, Michael talked for about forty-five minutes
on color touchup, different finish choices, and demonstrated
techniques on a cherry-ish demi-lune sofa table
that I had taken in on a moving damage claim.
A great example since there was damage in about
six places and requiring different techniques for each.
We took some really great video of both his presentations,
but I can't figure out how to get it from Hi-8 tape
to the computer so you can download it.
If anyone has a way to do that, let me know!
After quickly locking up and herding everyone out,
we caravaned down a couple miles to the restaurant.
As it turns out, my directions were great,
but at least one of the street signs required were missing!
We lost a few folks and I had to double back to round them up.
(My wife and daughter came down for lunch
and I know they were both glad to meet you all.)
I think everyone enjoyed lunch as I heard no complaints from anyone
(although there were some seams that sounded unhappy!).
