A client recently acquired an interesting sideboy.
It's made by "The Wood Batik Shop", no idea of age.
It's decorated all over with what looks like stained patterns.

She started refinishing it with Formby's revitalizer,
and began stripping off the pattern. That's when she called me.

The finish is shellac. The finish needs some revitalization.
I tried a very gentle was on a small area with alcohol.
Woops!
Started taking off the figure with the shellac.
It looks like the dye is under the shellac,
but I can't see anyway to get it off.

Does anyone have any information on the process that might
have been used ( 3 color dyes + the natural mahogany wood color).
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
I'm going to have to repair the customer's damage and my own.
