Dear Groop,

I have a rosewood lap desk that I need your help with.
There does not appear to be any way to hinge or attach the
writing surfaces to the desk. There are little tabs on each
writing surface so you can pull them out of the recessed area.

Were they supposed to float free?
One side has a brass turn lever to hold 1/2 of a lid?

Also I was wondering the best thing to put on the writing surface.
There is not enough room (tolerance) to use leather.
What do you suppose was on there?

Any help would be appreciated
