Mark Bausman updates:
I went to inspect the bedroom set with brown spots. My bad
finishing materials turned out to be plasticizer migration, square
rubber feet on the base of a phone sitting on the lacquer coating.
It's only on one dresser top.
I doubt if the spots can be polished out and now wonder how
far they have migrated. Could the spots have migrated into the
surface of the wood? I would hate to spend the time refinishing
the top only to find they won't come out.
My next decision, and mine to make, do I charge for refinishing
the top? Do I discount the fee? Do I refinish for free?
I hate these dilemmas. However it's nice to know that the coating
applied was not the culprit.
Thanks for all your advise.
