Groop,
Here is the method that I used for making the new piece for Mark.
A gallon can cut in two, with the top bent in to fit into the lower half.
The steamer in action, over a $5.00 stove burner.
The caul that I made for bending the hand cut veneer.
I must have looked at 100 feet of red oak to find a grain match.
I found it in a piece of scrap in the burn barrel. I cut the new
piece of veneer with my band saw and a veneer cutting guide.
You will notice the jug of Aqua-Cote that is in the last photo.
That is what I used for the steaming.
Thanks to Tom Mohler at aquacoatsupply.com
Funny how things happen.
Tom and I had talked about using the Aqua-Cote for bending
and a few weeks later Mark asked for me to help him.
Now, you have the rest of the story...........
