Kim Buckminster writes:
This is an archival picture of the furnishings from the Nebraska
State Capitol that arrived in my shop today. I have the four club
chairs, two as seen in the foreground, and two mostly hidden.
Also, mostly hidden, are two Davenports. They are much the
same as the club chairs. One was lost over the years, so under
the direction of Ron Dulas, in the Capitol's wood shop, a frame
was replicated, and I'm following suit with all aspects of the
upholstery.
The upholstery is detailed springing, pounds of horse hair topped
with cotton, pulled down with denim, then finished out with
leather. Seat cushions and back rests are sprung with cotton-
wrapped Marshal units... Chairs are covered in a glossy garnet
red leather, and the Davenports in dark alpine green.
The walnut, lathe-turned chair in the center is one of several
styles (brown, and shiny), exclusive to this building, circa 1932.
I've rebuilt approximately seventy five of these chairs.
(Note the large, stone fireplace to the left!)
