Friends

Upon entering a local Church for our annual Scout's volunteer
clean up day, I found some local parishioners installing some
accordion room divider panels. It seems that they had acquired
3 large sections for free and only had to buy the "end latch"
panels to complete the job.

Of course, the new panels did not match the old panels,
so there was a senior handy man hard at work shading the
new panels. The only thing he had on hand was black paint,
so he lightly misted on the paint.
It looked horrible, so I offered to help out with the task.

Once we got the panels cut to size and ready to shade,
we drove them home to my shop and set them up on 4 tables.
The first thing we did was scrub them
with scotchbrigh and mineral spirits.

The challenge was the fact that these doors were put
together and taking them apart was not in the cards.
This meant that I needed to shade and clearcoat a
large flat area that was 8 feet long and 18 feet wide.
On side one, I reached from the top and bottom edges
of the doors to spray them, but I didn't like how the
shading lacquer was lapping in the middle of the wall.
It was also a killer reach to get on a nice coat.

With side two, I decided I needed a better spraying apparatus,
so I taped my Kremlin gun to a 6 foot aluminum handle and
used duct tape to hold the trigger squeezed and sprayed away.

It worked like a charm.

I though this photo was pretty humorous!
