Here is a very simple low tech adaptation of a razor blade for
the purposeof shaving glue without scratching the finish.
When I need a simple finish off the gun and there is a few small nibs,
I allow eight hours to harden the finish and then place a strip of
transparent tape over each end on the edge of a razor blade
to raise the cutting edge one 'one thousandth of an inch.
Then gently slice with a slightly diagonal motion.
