Here's one of the strangest claims I've had to deal with.  Homeowners
insurance covered it too!  Carrier called us to go out and find a ring
that was lost inside a recliner!  Couldn't leave the home with the chair
according to adjuster, potential liability she said... go figure.

Anyway, 3 hours round trip, 3 hours onsite tearing the thing apart, no
ring.  Left the chair in pieces, adjuster was going to cash out the chair if
we found the ring. Tech onsite couldn't find it, insured couldn't find it,
our drivers couldn't find it.  We had since convinced insured and
adjuster to let us bring in the chair.

Had to completely strip the chair and found it up inside the top wing!
Insured had turned over the chair trying to find the ring and it lodged
way up under the fabric.

They were into it so heavy it was now cheaper to put the chair back
together for an extra $300 and deliver it back with the ring!

About $1,800 bill to find a ring that's worth maybe 4 grand tops.  But
the insured and the adjuster were happy.  I tried to talk the adjuster out
of the whole mess as they'd be liable for almost a grand even if we
didn't find the ring.  She didn't care, it was worth the risk she said
instead of paying full retail value on the ring.  Plus it had "sentimental"
value.  Yeah, diamonds are a woman's best friend :-)

Anyway, it was just so strange a claim I thought I'd share it.
