This email serves as an enthusiastic public THANK YOU to
John Polgar for giving up all of last Saturday to teach John Jomp
and I upholstery repair techniques. I always thought of John P.
as a finisher and touch up guy, but come to find out John is also
an accomplished upholsterer as well.
John's class started with an overview on how chairs are
upholstered, and then he moved on to repairing loose zig-zag
springs and tying off coil spring sets. We learned how to
properly attach and tension jute webbing on a seat, how to
reattach a button, remove panels from a couch and reattach
them, how to properly cover a dining chair seat, and how to
how to blind stitch a seam.
After winding up at about 7pm, John P. and his family treated
John J. and I to dinner at an excellent Asian buffet Kwana where
I sampled my first Sushi at John's urging. (Hint to first timers....
that green stuff that looks like guacamole is called Wasabi. It's
hot!)
There is no way I can begin to repay John Polgar for giving of
his time and knowledge for an entire day. What did John charge
for a day of learning? A $100 contribution to Groop. (Michael
M., look for the check in the mail!)
Again, thank you John for educating two novices on the ins and
outs of upholstery repair. I really appreciate your willingness to
share!

(I think that John Polgar and John Jomp have some additional
pictures to share. John P has the awards ceremony photos!)
