Groop:

I have a problem with some teak deck chairs.  I stripped the
chairs for a customer, the chairs were dipped in Benco's B7
stripper with an oxalic acid wash and of course a final rinse.  The
chairs were completely sanded and then delivered to the
customer who wanted to apply the teak oil themselves.

Within a short time all the chairs developed a bad case of mold.
I might mention that one of the chairs we applied a teak oil finish
as sample to the customer but the remaining five the customer
completed.  All six chairs were affected by the mold.

I understand that the customer had used some teak oil that had
been on hand for over five years, I'm not sure if this is a factor,
and if it is how it would explain the one chair the customer had
not coated.

Thanks for any help you might offer.
