If you compare the before and after you can see that
the arm chair had a lot of gilding to be done not nearly
as much on the side chairs.

I first washed the chairs with soap and water then mineral spirits
then alcohol and in a few places lacquer thinner. They were really
dirty and had a green glaze that had darkened considerably.

I primed with gold primer from Wood Workers Supply,
then gilded using a water based size and finally glazed
the new gild to blend with the old work.

In all it took about 40 hours for the 3 chairs.

of these and the time it would take to do them.
