Hello Groop,
I need some input on this project that I was called to look at last week.
These are two Fire Places that are in a house that was built around the
1920's and are concidered treasures in the town that they are located.
My customer bought this home last year and hired a firm to paint the outside
of their home. This company came highly recommended so that their work
was never questioned. When the home owner asked these guys to do
work inside the home they said that they could anything she wanted.
She left for several days with all the instructions supposedly understood.
When she came back everything was not right.
The following pictures for the two fire places show them in a gloss brown
Minwax Stain n Seal finish. These guys had stripped both fire places
and tried to faux finish them with a base color of orange paint
in order to create some sort of wood look.
After the home owner flipped out, they stripped them again and finished
them with Min Wax. All the wood is Chestnut and this lady wants me
to remove the Min Wax finish and leave it as natural as possible.
What can I expect as far as the results and
what should I use to strip this garbage off with?
Also how should I go about pricing this work?
Both of these fire places are 8 ft. long
and the top portions are 4 ft. high.
Any input from Groop would surely help me out
with this "different" project.
Thanks in advance.
