Hi DanC,
I believe the only way to correct the problem is to install all new canvas.
If the old canvas is glued with Hide glue, I use a damp cloth and a hot iron
(not my wife's) to release the glue and pull the old canves off., then scrap the
old glue off the slats. I then place the slats on a piece of plywood and
clamp their ends down with strips of wood. Make sure every thing is square by
measuring corner to corner. Now using new canvas and hide glue, start at the top
and glue it down much like veneering.
