I need to select the best option for filling some dents. The
damage is a couple of inches long by 1/8 deep.
This item is a headboard relatively new, manufactured in
Indonesia. The substrate is probably veneer core plywood.
The color is a dark brown cherry. The finish appears to be
a nc lacquer.
Realistic choices for fill are:
Mohawk shellac stick (clear)
Konig Polyester fill
Epoxy
I have a ways to go before mastering the burn in, I think this is
too large of an area for that method.
My guess is that Konig and epoxy are about the same thing.
I have no idea what the ideal refractive index is for the fill, if
I had a choice.
Any drawbacks to using clear?
After leveling I can scratch in some grain pores. The biggest
challenge I see is duplicating the slight orange peel in the fill
area.
I'll do this in the shop. This is moving damage and the customer
is a bit cranky.
Please comment.
