To all,

I'm hoping for an answer to a dilemma.

I want to improve the look of the finish on the wood on a desk covered in moldings of brass. Any use of solvent threatens to change the brass, which I don't want to do. The moldings are brass covered wood quarter round, and they are glued in place.

The finish is lightened by sun and not-so-good storage. What should be a nice mellow Mahogany now looks cloudy. Howards does not improve it enough.

I don't want to take off all the moldings (too many, too stuck on), and I don't want to strip/clean them either.

Is there some other treatment that can restore the wood color without strong solvents that would change the brass?

I'll include picture to help show how much brass there is. I'll strip the top, but the rest?

The pictures actually make the wood look like it should. The flash does that. The piece is upside down on a dolly, but you can see the brass.
