Groop,
Sometime ago I asked for input on the original back on a dresser like this.
I did not receive any help at all from any one...so...I made up a design
that very much pleased the client. The mirror frame is made of tiger striped
maple to match the rest of the case. I turned all new knobs so they all look
alike and cut new keys for all the drawers. The drawer runners and guides
are all replaced with new maple runners. The little drawers are lined with
red velveteen over 1/8" foam art board to make them easy to remove. The
casters were very rusty. I soaked them in kerosene for a week, wire brushed
where I could and blew them out with compressed air then re-oiled them and
painted them flat black.
The cabinet in the back ground is part of a commission for a special client.
I am building them eight pieces. Three from pine and five from walnut/poplar
to match other work that I did for them in the past year.
The engine hoist is now used for turning pianos on their sides/backs. As I
do not do automotive work anymore.
Bill, The solder and acid is what I use for stained glass work. The solder
is really hard to get. A friend gave me 50 pounds of it years ago, guess it
was time to share. grin
