Back when I posed the "Yacht Finish" question
I had asked a related question:
"I also have a new front door coming up that will need the
same application since it is natural maple and needs all
the uv protection it can get."
I wound up using DuPont's Imron polyurethane enamel.
Since it was originally formulated for the aircraft industry
because it resists flexing in all directions not just linear
(at least that's what the guy at the automotive supply place
tried to explain to me), and it has superior UV protection
(made to clearcoat car paint......white).
Extreme gloss but rubs out nicely.
This door had to be finished in place since
it weighed easily 500 pounds.
I thought you might like to see the great
stainless steel hardware they had made for it.
This door cost close to $10,000.00
(and that's only for the finishing ....
just kidding, I charged $2500 for it ).
I took a few more pics of this place if anyone's interested.
This was the place in Hollywood that I did with MagnaMax
that I reported on a while back.
