I doubt anything will make a stronger repair
than getting 2 FLAT clean surfaces,
regluing with almost any glue and clamp.
Let's not forget,
most any glue is stronger than the wood being glued.

This repair was complicated by where to make a cut
as I didn't want to make a new entire or most of a back leg.
I wanted the chair to be good if placed into everyday use.

Because of where the cut was required, there was
no room on the chair piece to plane the surface flat.
The cut on the leg (not removed from the chair)
was made with a Back saw until the back saw stiffener
prevented further depth cutting.
The balance was cut with a crosscut hand saw.
A cardboard pattern was drawn,
the wood band sawed out and hand rasped to shape.
The new piece was eyeballed for the same angle
and cut with only a hand saw.

The difficulty lay with attachment and of course,
not perfectly flat surfaces.

Also, because it's almost impossible to clamp due to
sliding of angle cuts we decided on 5 Minute Epoxy.
The Epoxy (gasket) would take care of the unperfected
surfaces and didn't require clamping if hand held in position.
Look carefully and you'll see a fatter Epoxy line
at the lowest point than at the top.

The time was 2 3/4 hours.

Now for the touch up... .
