We got a kick out of this when starting repair work today.
It's all Faux!

Almost the actual color.

Note that the color is Yellow or Light.

We imagine, the Faux was done on a entire sheet
and then pattern cut and laid up to form the Chevron's
as each color band is a separate piece of veneer.

The first clue that it wasn't real was the poor Faux job
done on the door to create a 2 piece burl look.
The rest of it is pretty good.

Showing some damage.

For the repair, MAYBE we'll remove each band that is damaged
up to the Chevron point. Replace the veneer and touch up.

On the other hand,
we can fill the missing wood and touch up the fill.
I'll probably do the latter,
as the customer really cannot afford to do hardly anything.

I tried to turn the work down,
but she insisted that she wanted it done.
Go figure.
I hardly ever take a deposit, but this job was an exception.

Completion Update:

Carpathian Elm Burl (2 ply) was added to the bottom edge.
This removed all the missing wood and loose (hard to see)
veneer at the same time, saving lots of labor costs.
