The story goes that this Table (two identical halves)
was purchased while in China as an Antique.
The Table has been in the USA for about a year.

The shrinkage is rather extensive ... about 1/4" at widest point.
Both halves have the same damage in the same areas.

The customer is allowing us the freedom of repair in any way we see fit
including the Letting in of a contrasting strip of wood to fill the gap
which he suggested.

What we actually plan to do is to saw and remove the Flat straight edge
piece of wood free from it's two joints plus any other attchments.
With that out of the way we can (hopefully) recreate the proper arc.
The Arc has a Tenon on it fitting into a groove in the flat semi-circular pieces
which can't be seen in the photo. Then, new wood will be added and colored to match.

Let the buyer beware.
1. The Table is new construction, complete with some filler
already, but using Traditional Chineese joinery methods.

2. The Table may have some original ancient componets
which may be discovered as work proceeds.
So perhaps it is not a bald face lie.

No, I did not inform the customer that he was "taken".
He's happy and likes what he brought back to the USA.
Why burst his bubble?
