D & S Enterprises Building and a Dream Realized
This is my 1984 Excalibur, Phaeton, Series IV
which is a replica of the 1937 Mercedes.
They were the last American hand made custom automobile
and were made in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They are full size,
and have a hand-laid fiberglass body. They are fairly rare in
that there were only about 200 - 300 a year made each year.
I have sure enjoyed this one over the years.
The darn thing weighs approximately 5000 #s.
However it is a real treat to drive and it does turn heads.
I had a 1985 model, but the mfg. had made a design change
to the suspension that year and it was terrible to drive.
The car wandered all over the road. I started looking
and found this one setting in a barn in Oklahoma with
900 actual miles, and couldn't pass it up.
