Here is a rubbing brush sitting atop my barn red project.
The brush is 8" x 2.5". The bristles are 1" and somewhat soft.
This brush is used for buffing. According to Mac Simmons
(now-retired Mohawk rep), once upon a time many shops had
these brushes for rubbing out finishes. Mac gave me this one.
The brush can be used dry, with lubricant or loaded up
with abrasive material like pumice or rottenstone slurries
or even automotive compounds.
I had never seen or heard of a rubbing brush
prior to Mac mentioning it to me a few years ago.
