Most of us have refinished trundle sewing machines. Generally,
there isn't much you can do with the stand except clean it,
de-rust, and paint.

The enclosed photos are of a stand from a 1910 "Red Eye"
Singer. While cleaning it, I noticed remnants of brass paint or
plating on the decorative parts. Rather than re-paint in brass,
I used Liberon's Chantilly gilt cream. I wiped it on with my
finger over the raise portions. This offered good control and
took just a few minutes to accomplish. I then sealed it with
2 coats of gloss lacquer from a spray can.
