Attached are pictures of a recent mission style chair that has entered the

shop, cool chair, but note the break on the back.  This is the lower

section, the oak is solid and the crack has gone halfway through and is

under great pressure.

 

Question, how would you repair this chair?  Initially I thought of merely

filling it and coloring it up, but after really looking at it, and seeing

the pressure that piece of wood is under, I need to do something

to prevent future damage.
