Hello Groop,
My name is Daren Steneman and I am new to the wood finishing profession and very
happy to be a new pupil of Mitch's. From what I've
learned in the first 3 weeks and what I've read on Groop I am very excited for
what the future holds.
I have a question. I completed a sculpture a few months back that I fashioned
out of 2 pieces of driftwood I found on the North
Shore of Lake Superior. I finished both pieces the using materials and
instructions I got out of sculptor Milt Liebsen's book Direct
Wood Sculpture. I used Watco Danish Oil (natural) and Butchers Bowling Alley Wax
to polish them up. The two scuptures look pretty
good but I was really hoping that the smaller (child) sculpture would be offset
from the main (mother) sculpture - but they ended up
blending into each other. I have no idea how to strip the smaller sculpure of
the wax and oil finish so I can refinish and make it
"pop" as Mitch would say. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help. I'm pleased to be a part of the Groop.
Cheers,
Daren Steneman
