Hi Groop,
I looked at at a job today that is beyond my capabilities but wondered
what your thoughts are. It's a black lacquered and gold china cupboard
that was damaged by fire on one side. The finish damage is severe. I think
it could be stripped and black lacquered again but I have no idea how the gold
work could be recreated so I'm asking you all if you might have any thoughts.
I told the customer that I thought the repair would be much more than
the value of the piece and they thought that would be the case but
since in was the client's mothers piece she'd like to have a sense of
whether there's any way it could be repaired.
I've attached photos and look forward to any of your ideas.
