Dear Groop,

This is a imported and much reconstructed old European
side board made mostly of cherry. It came to us with a
wax-on-raw wood finish. The client wants something
more durable.

The areas with the worm damage were packed with
black wax. We stripped the piece and were able to
remove most of the wax but now I want to re-fill those
areas with a similarly colored filler that will dry hard and
support a shellac-lacquer finish.  I've read about and
seen examples of pores filled with colored plaster
especially in English pieces. Has anyone had a similar
problem and how did you resolve it?

Thanks

Bruce
