I was asked to replace the back panel of this bookcase and had
no reason to believe it wasn't "real wood" till I started to take the
original broken back off  and saw the chipboard. "Solid Value"
creates the impression of solid wood, especially when a "Real
Wood" imprint is inches away. I guess it all depends on what 
your definition of  "real" is. So much for truth in labeling!

The original back panel went edge to edge, rather than being

inset into a rabbet so that no chipboard was visible anywhere
until the piece was damaged!

The two photos are a side view of the carton and a rear view
of the bookcase.
