I have a customer with a buffet (or what ever you would like to call it. It
actually sits behind of sofa) with water damage to the top. The piece was
made in Spain and has a high build finish on it. I did not have anything to
test the finish with, but due to feel and look I think it is conversion
varnish. If customer approves I will be taking in a interior shelf to test
the bottom for strip ability. If this is a conversion varnish or even a
polyester, what would be your ideas to repair. My concerns are the veneer
peeling and loosing too much of the color if a harsh stripping is involved.
The top is not removable and only the top needs to be repaired - refinished.
No tests have been done. It was not a scheduled stop and I did not have my kit.
Just to add to the thread and to send out more info. What do you think a
repair for this would cost? If any other info is needed just ask. I am sorry
but the only pictures that came out are being sent, but for some reason the
picture of the entire piece did not download to the computer. If I can
figure that one out I will send it out also.
