Steve & et al.,
I've been away for a week and realize I'm coming in late with this
info. It maybe a source some of you use now and again.
Xylo is the company that mills my moldings. They have over 200
different profiles, some architectural as well as picture frame
moldings, up to 14' in length (cut smaller for shipping UPS).
Unfinished poplar profiles are usually in stock. Other woods, as
available, are basswood, birdseye, fiddleback and soft maple,
cherry, oak, rosewood, walnut, partridgewood, mahogany, ash
and urana. There is no minimum on unfinished moldings and they
allow one foot for each defect. To contact and for a catalog
1-800-627-5040.
Although they do not offer quarter round in their catalog, there are
several profiles/sizes easily ripped on the table saw to achieve the
goal--with extra. I've attached a chart from my studio manual for
the quarter round rips we most often make.
From time to time they have a bundle sale on seconds. One
profile per bundle usually containing between 12' & 30' (some
times more) and usually in shorter lengths. Currently their poplar
bundles are $3.00 each! Bundles in other woods are priced at
60% off. They will fax a bundle list if requested. But, you'll need
the catalog to compare profile number to picture.
