Groop:
I could use some advice on these two chairs that were dropped off at my
shop while I was out on the road today. I briefly studied the wicker
pattern
and I don't think it will be difficult to repeat once started. The wicker
process
appears to start at the bottom front and work upwards to the top rail.
I am seeking any and all advice on what would be the best method to repair.
I could also use some help on pricing the wicker repair based on appropriate
time and materials for the task. The front braid around the sides and top
looks like it is added last and nailed on to hide the loose ends of the
wicker.
Also, the finish, what is left of it, appears to be shellac. As far as the
wood
frames for the chairs they are the basic strip, repair and refinish.
One last request. I would appreciate any help toward determining the age
and origin of these chairs.
