Here's a nifty trick that might help someone.

I needed to apply a paper-backed teak veneer to some shelf edges.
I cut the veneer slightly wider than the shelf edge thickness.

Next, I used double stick Scotch tape to stick the curly veneer edging
face down to my melamine work table top. Then applied yellow glue
to the veneer back and let it dry about 45-minutes.
No problem with glue slopping onto the melamine work bench top. . .
when dry, it simply scrapes off with a razor blade.

Then I ironed the veneer to the shelf edge
and routered it flush with my trim router.

One note about double stick Scotch tape . . . there are two types.
One is regular and is very sticky.
The second is "removable" double stick tape and is mildly sticky.
Try'em both before you get stuck with something.
