Groop,
I was going to mix some silicone for casting patterns and I thought
that you would like to see the holder that I use to prevent spilling.
The block is 3-1/2'' x 3-1/2" x 1-3/4" thick. The hole is cut with a
band saw. Place the cup, centered on the block and draw around it.
Then set your band saw at 6 degrees and cut on the line. This will
give you a tapered hole that the cup will set into with out tipping over.
As you can see, I just cut through the wall into the marked hole.
The little saw cut will not weaken the block.
I have used these cup holders for years and find them an absolutely
necessary tool when I worked in the field. In the shop they are a
standard tool that I use all the time. Just think, no more spilled stain
on a priceless antique, or a carpet....
This is really an ounce of prevention.
The cup is a urine sample cup....(preferably not used). You can buy them
at any pharmacy with lids. Really nice for the extra stuff that you can't get
rid of on the job. The clear plastic is marked in millimeters and ounces.
Great for mixing on the job, or, in the shop.
This will also fit a 5 ounce Dixie cup.....or.....

....If you don't have a bandsaw, send me a piece of wood
and the cup that you will be using and I will cut one for you....
