Refinishing doors of any kind can be a labor intensive affair.
Engineering the job properly makes a tremendous difference
in the quality of the work and increases profit.
For those who have refinished one or two doors
in their career, this shop tip might come in handy.

Take a long (12") 3/8 bit.
Measure and mark the depth for 6".

Drill two holes on each end of the door 6" to 10" from
each side (depending on the size of the door).

Hammer in each hole a 12" x 3/8" spike
(Most hardware stores carry them).

Now place the door on sawhorses resting on the spikes.

After the work is done remove the spikes
with large pliers and a hammer.

Now you have easy access to both sides
and the advantages become abundantly clear
in every step of the finishing process.
