I've been Bruce Hamilton Antique Restoration for 25 years.
My shop is in my home in West Newbury MA.
I have one full time employee who has been with me for ten years.
Restoration work is what I prefer to do but we do a wide range of things
including commercial finishing for our local cabinetmakers when they
wish to have their work look more like a piece of furniture then just built-ins.
We do some hand stripping in our restorations
but we prefer to save the existing finish when ever possible.
Currently we work with a lot of shellac but we are just as
comfortable spraying lacquer, urethane combo's and cat-var.
We fabricate whatever missing wooden parts we need from
salvaged wood, use hot hide glue or fish glue for gluing
(with the exception of non-joint repairs where epoxy is a better choice).
