I can't specifically think of any adverse reaction or problem with
polyester. The only one that's a no-no is catalyzed polyurethane. 
I would run some tests before committing to a piece.

One final thing -- if in doubt of the compatibility of TransTints or any
other colorant - you can always sandwich the alcohol reduced dye 
between coats of polyester.
