Makita Table Saw

I have a Makita 2708 portable table saw.  The right side of the table has a
2 3/8" hole and several small holes for screws.  I've always assumed it was
to mount a router.  The manual says nothing about the hole.  And the screw
holes don't come close to the 3 or 4 required to mount the router.

What's it for?  If its for a router, what brands/models will it take and
what to do about a fence?
