MF Cachat in Cleveland Ohio sells it.
You'll have to call directory info

And to read about Gilsonite itself, follow this link:

Mac Simmons sent me that last link which I bookmarked. Gilsonite and
asphaltum are often discussed in the finishing chats at BadgerPond.com
(Wed's) and WoodCentral (Thur's).

Jim,

If by Real Gilsonite "cutback," you are referring to gilsonite "asphaltum" in
powder form, I have purchased it through Kremer Pigments. It is disolved
in Turpentine. Mineral spirits or naptha do not work as well. Then you have
a glaze. It doesn't dry very fast so I add a bit of Kremer's raw umber which
has manganese in it which is a dryer. To much of this as it will dry too quick.
I have added it to Mohawk Glaze recently and am still working with the
process. I have used some roof coatings with success by the way, but
the homemade variety is better as expected.

In Spain, where I spend a lot of time because of family, I have found that
they use this asphaltum as a glaze for almost everything. It is sold premixed
though and is as good as what I make. It would be nice if it were made here
again. Yes, at one point, it was common here before everything got "improved"
